First. At what levels do you guys upgrade gear? Every 10? 5?

Ideally each 5 levels would be most efficient and optimal but can get expensive rather quickly.
I'm still trying to finish my dagger set (missing the level 45 one).

Be careful regarding the in-game marketplace things tend to be rather overpriced there. Not all the time though, I've found steals from there also

Well.. embrace yourself but you would have to invest into the in-game "Vault".

Seems a bit silly at first, but do not underestimate the vault as I did in the beginning. I totally neglected it.

I did later on learn that it's the best thing ever, but sadly costs a few gold. It is basically like your stash in Diablo. It enables the function of you quickly being able to switch out gear each 5 levels with ease. Strong recommend

Edit: you could also have your gear on mules but it makes it rather a tedious process for leveling purposes.

Ahh gotcha. I did buy the vault. I've been keeping junk I find in it, which is probably worthless.

Good! I just constantly have the vault open while doing 1-55 leveling then once I hit 55 I simply just close it and grind the rest out.
Having a optimal setup with inventory/vault/shrine/skills up at all times is crucial imo and helped me a lot.
If you think the items are junk, chances are, they are
I have added 2x pictures to my profile which helped me a ton in being able to know what to keep and what to look out for!
