I dont consider it good fun when you make 2 posts a minute a part in 2 threads calling Rus's 20 stat t3 robe a glyph. He has sent many hours getting muting up and deserves a bit of respect just for that. Regardless of who it was, it was a good item for the level it was and he had every right to be proud of it, whether it was a find or a mute. There is no excuse or justification for going out of your way to put down someone who was 100% in his rights in what he was doing.
This constant belittling of others just to stroke their own pixel egos is keeping LS from becoming a better game. If about 10 people in both SC & HC would just admit they are bored with LS and give it up, everyone would be able to take a moment and sigh with the drama weight being lifted from their shoulders.....This constant bs from these select few trolls make new people quit, others not even bother trying the game and older players just hate the game because of the drama......worst part is, typically these few people have the gear to solo catas with 4 people sitting afk, instead of them carrying people in catas and showing off their 500,000 fg investments they sit in the forums and rage people.
Typically these people used credit cards to buy the best gear in the game and then dont even use it really. I am all for people buying stuff in any game that they enjoy playing, but using plastic to get items doesnt give them the right to put down everyone else who is struggling while trying to 'earn' their items......I know in D2 Classic I spent a long time getting the best stuff for my pally, ended up re-making him 3 times due to new items. I ran him in chaos runs for over a year almost every day. All I had to do was make a game called 'Tex Chaos 01' and in moments people were flocking in to follow me because I sol'd it basically faster than 8 man co-op games went.....IMO LS is the same way, if your going to buy the best gear, then play the game publicly and show off to nubs, dont sit there and say your too good to play with new people just because they dont have the cash to buy great gear with....
ok, I am off my soap box for now

Hi Hi Nikki

as much as I agree that Lance is a troll, doll, I can't agree with the rest of it. I agree with a some of your analogy related to general elitists attitudes, but being that it's Lance you quoted, I have to disagree with it in terms of him. Most people don't actually care about the things Lance posts either because he's consistently posted the same attitude of shit across the forum for quite some time (I've seen it the whole time i've played ls), you either grow to enjoy see what him, or other trolls even for that matter, come up with, or you simply don't pay attention to them.
As for newcomers.. I don't think it's the drama that deters them. If it hadn't been for Miah, Andy, Anthony, and Jesse I never would've survived in this game without the social aspect of having them around, even understanding LS, it has always been the most boring game I've played, but I always played for the social fun I had playing with them, of course we quickly ended up in Laby with Brian, Eric, Ironmike and others, and of course the rest is history. Hell I never even discovered the LS forums until I was in Laby. Regardless, it's not the trolls discouraging them, because i know a lot of people that go out of their way behind the scenes when seeing the newbies post to help guide them, most of those people don't even post in the threads, i know cause I'm one that does it somewhat regularly. Newbs either find something about ls they like and stick around, or they know of a better game and play that instead. Much like most of Outcast currently is.
I don't know what you are refering to about sitting in games to show off, most of the regular players on hardcore have always arranged games on vent, of threads, and typically don't throw up a game for the intention of being selective about who happens to be signed in. Although I suppose there are always some asses.
Basically, as much as trolls will always be around, they can only get under your skin if you let them.
