I did not expect you or Elias to join up... because it makes total sense that you continue climbing up those ranks.

BUT... let us see...
You both have like Rank10+ already... SO... you can up another Casting Proficiency from level 1-10 each climb and continue with your other Prof afterwards.

That is what I did with my Sword rank... That is what I plan on doing again...

At the moment... I have it planned out for me:
Rank12 Staff... so from level 1-15 I will be casting... then continue on using staff from there upwards... and also my focus
