thoughts from me:

with the amount of fg you're pouring into LS i reckon you could make a pretty sexy hybrid setup which would be able to solo all the way in area in you so wanted, or could carry a decent group in catacombs while still doing a truck load of damage

also i think i read somewhere that ee starts getting a little pointless after ~160 and that it's better to get int after about then :)

HI Cloudfire,

Thanks for the input. For me, I'm more of a catacombs multiplayer type of gamer. Solo'ing in arena is knda boring and much less fun than grouping in the catacombs with friends or even strangers. My goals with this armor iso was to be a tanking barb/pally when I play those 2 classes. Reason being, it seems every is wearing strength robes and going back these days. And as ladder progresses I'll be playing with more and more higher character classes, that I want to just get the front guy taking care of and be the group tanker.

Plus is a nice feeling being the tank guy and destroyed monsters with ease. :)

Currently I only have a 167% EE plate. This article/post you read about EE being pointless after ~160, I'd love to read and research/study the numbers beind it. I'm really got addicted to this game and am becoming a student of everything it has to offer. ONly problem is my limited time to play, and my sever lack of LS buddies to play with :(

I am unfamiliar with hybrids, but I think I do have some interest in possibly making some sort of hybrid pally. High damage, tanking, front pally with nice heals. Hmm... Sounds so nice...! :)

there is a very present effect of overkill that can be achieved with Enhanced Effect armors. If you are using a plate mail I wouldn't recommend getting more then 140 EE and no more then 160 EE on a chain mail tier 14. This is because monsters will deal you damage in three ways. Magical, physical, CS. Your EE armor will only reduce the physical damage you eat and at those levels of EE you can already nullify almost all of that damage. Getting much more then that amount of EE would simply be an overkill and would be wasted.

That's the quote i gathered it from. As he said, monsters do damage 3 ways - normal melee, crits, and casting. You can have all the ee you want but as crits ignore defence, they'll still hurt you majorly. For defense against crits you want dex (which lowers the chance of the monster hitting a crit, and lessens the damage it will do.

However, a character with high ee/dex will still get shredded by caster mobs - this is evident in arena. you could be taking almost no damage for a few monsters then run into 1 monster that consistently hits you for high amounts. Caster damage is calculated by damage on the casters charm, ee, their int, and also the target's int. Casting spells have an 'amplification' effect that works - depending on the difference between the attackers and defenders int, the spell can do anywhere from 50% to 150% damage.

To tank well against casters you'll want a high-ish amount of int to try and minimise the amp that the monster is getting against you.

My dream tank would have:

ee armour (your 160ee would be fine)
100-120dex
70-100int (70 is standard for hybrids)

I remember one of the headhunters last season saying he tanked better with int/dex while using leathers than other characters using heavy ee plates. goes to show how much the int/dex means.

then you start getting into hybrid territory - since you're getting 70-100int, then if you get to where you want with your early points then you'll have a large mana pool by the time you hit ~55. you can then equip a heal charm in the acc slot and heal for a significant amount as well as dealing huge damage and tanking everything that hits you :)

If you have any questions PM me, i know this i havn't made this very clear. :)

So I see. Ends up I was wrong about the EE armor I had, it's not 168% its actually in the 140's area. But whatever, its ok.

Turns out I am going to focus on piecing together my axe set before tackling EE plates and possibly strength plates (because I already have strength robes).

Thanks for the info, I'll really look into doing something like this with my Pally.... (When I finally get one... :( )

not so true that guy had a like 16 life regen mod on his armor along with intel and it was a scale armor even with magic dam and crits hits the 256ee armor i saw a guy use he tanked very well beyond my exspectations. hybrid just go all intel points with ee armor thats what i did with my pally and sammy and rogue base dex will do u fine with an ee armor but the intel cuts down on crit hits so u will b fine with a high ee armor on. beast weapon and a good heal charm and a nice stat charm will work.
