I'm so sorry to hear of this Dana, I can understand how terrible you must feel even if you didn't seriously hurt him. I can bet that you're still thinking of the 'what if's', as in "What if I had killed him?".

I had almost the same experience myself but I was able to stop before hitting the guy. I was driving along Main st where there are a lot of bars, and this drunk guy just comes running out in front of me where there's cars parked bumper to bumper, and it was raining besides. I'm sure that if I hadn't been paying attention I would have definitely seriously hurt him or killed him, going 30mph and all. I'm glad you called his mother and he's ok. And try to be positive about it since you are more aware now how dangerous driving can be, for yourself and others. I think all the time, "Well what if we got into an accident, what would happen to my children in the back seat, my youngest is only 4 months old." :(
Try not to obsess about it though, it wasn't your fault and the kid's ok.

thanks for the kind words. Quite honestly i'm good now. I've come completely to grips with "what i did" and think that while, i'm not saying its his fault or its mine, i just dont think it matters. I just really dont think there is anything i could have done to avoid it which means i did everything i right up until that point. I am just so glad to hear he is doing fine because about 6 years ago my best friend got into an accident and his younger brother died. I watched his family go through hell and it broke my heart to think somebody else could be going through that.
