My mage is strictly heal. So when I want to solo or do wells I use:

Melee staff ( 188 ee at lvl 55)
str robe ( 40 str)
hm charm ( 41 hm)
heal charm (Reg heal-177 ee)

Does very well indeed. Can do almost full chains even at 65+

You just need to figure the right combo for yourself,
