you're definitely heading in the correct direction, that is for sure!
with regards to your gear, your scale armour is perfect for what you need it for, tanking to stop damage hitting you hard. im gunna post a few things here but lemme know if its too much or you want me to explain in more detail, but ill give you a little help with a rogue build.
Rogues can use most weapons, and to get damage, the most important mod straight away is going to be Enhanced Effect (EE). This will drive more damage at the monster, other mods are cool, but not necessary as you will be killing the mob
Armor, well theres 2 routes you can go down here, personally for a cheaper build that you can last longer with killing i would take a Medium class armor, which would be Leather and Scale armor, with enhanced effect, however you may also want "stat" armor instead, or even as well to depend on if its a group or a solo climb, the stat you want will depend entirely on the weapon you use. a good choice would be say a dagger and then dex armor, or axe with either or (a dagger ratio is 10:90. which says for every 10 str you have, 90 dex would be optimal, so stat everything towards dex) (axe is 50:50, so if you get 20 dex off a charm, stat equal str, depending on your base stats ofc)
Charms, to get the best damage always use Stat charms structured around the stat that you need for that weapon, so daggers in the 10:90 ratio, just get dex all the way (ratio is always determined by STR:DEX)
and lastly and most importantly, if you are going to solo alot of your climb, i would say make sure the first thing that you do is raise your base vitality to 90 or so! this will make sure you get lots of hp for later levels, may not seem alot now, but for each level you get, 1 vita = 1hp, so at level 70, that extra 1 vita is 71hp! (includes level 0 as a level)
