I would do build differently to your suggestion... and this is based on Barb... not sure if this is the same comment.
This is what I did with my builds... all the way from Barb to Current MONK.
Add 5 points into Vitality at start of build.
Add Dex Rest until I reached:
... 90 Barb (Any Weapon)
... 90 Samurai (Any Weapon)
... 90 Paladin (Any Weapon)
... 70 Monk (Any Weapon)
... ... Monk Intelligence 50 hard (5 to Dex at start... next 30 into Int)
Add Rest to Strength from there on.
From level 55 and the group I am in... I changed equipment to aid our team...
... If we needed a bit more tanking... I used (Barb) my Dex/Int 55 Sword & my Dex/Vita Charm with my EE Plate... (Charm/Sword now with Scott Buster)
... If we needed a bit more healing... I used (Monk) my 31 Int (Mana) Main Charm, 16HM (86EE) Staff, and 33% HM robe with my 60EE Focus heal (lvl55)

Need better
... If we needed a bit more damage... I used (Monk) my 34 Str Main Charm (or 20dex/11str/60ee focus), 135 EE staff, 21str/13int Robe
Adding 5 into vitality at the start of your build while you have stuff all equipment and fg, helps you survive longer with more life and most IMPORTANTLY added defense vs physical attacks...
Remember... this is just what I did, and I will say it worked great for me with nothing...

... Full strength if you are only going to catacombs
... 90 Dex if you are going to cata and Arena
I have tested out:
... Full Str... best in catagroup... and if you do not tank well... then you are in the middle... and some people complain
... 110 Dex... this is good... got good crit/dmg... and defense... thing is... damage average was below par for me
... 90-110... this is best option I think... and you can Arena effectively better
... 65 Vita... this is just better for survivability if you have to Arena...
Mind you... it is now 1.18... you might find that Arena is way easier... I think it is... this is my Welling gear on Barb @ level 20 (TierIII/IV & V)
