When you re-roll, basically you just start back at level 1, and can change class if you want. You don't lose any of your items or proficiency.

If you die, your weapon/charm proficiencies will all drop, but they will not go lower than their current level. If you have 5% of level 1 sword and die, it wont go down to level 0.

edit: also, if you die, you dont lose any cooking/fishing/glyph/trasmute/suffence proficiency, those stay where they were because they are not combat related.

The main reason Rex rerolled so much is because it helps build proficiency, which in turn makes up for not having super gear. 1 proficiency level = 1 enhanced effect, so if you can get your Club to level 5, that is like adding 5% EE to your clubs.

nah you get ~1 prof point per 2-4 hits with the weapon, as long as you do damage (dont hit for zero)

oh alright i got it....but does it only work if the monsters ur lvl?

you only gain proficiency on monsters at or above your current level of proficiency

example

you have level 4 sword. you wont gain any sword proficiency until you are at least level 4+

(pretty sure this is how it works, cant remember tho)

you won't get prof if the monster is lower thna either you level or your total prof level


example, i have 8 axe prof. i won't gain points until i'm killing level 8 monsters.
