Dang, the days I was going to get on and play, I get people coming over. Hopefully I can get a few hours of playing LS.

I been slacking myself with LS lately

Enjoying d2r hardcore ladder, my hammerdin named Sledge is almost in the top 100 for HC paladin, and ~415 overall.

I have been on and off with LS (working on muting softcore), the game is here for us anyway. :lol:

Playing d2r softcore ladder most of the time, with Blizzard sorc for the fun and earn some fg.

Nice going, get that fg. :D

You know what was even funnier, I made my post and posted a couple of times in LS General and "knock, knock" on the door, :rofl: Eli came over, so we had a chat and a few (dozen) drinks. So Murphy screwed up my plans at that time, but then I got on drunk for a little bit. :P

Okay... I started this catacomb with a level 30 character.

https://prnt.sc/TD6rLDIdyyKn

Now, as you can see, my character level is 50 (20 levels higher), now, with all the "spins or flashes" back to the "dead-ends" and re-tracing my explored squares, I could have completed it by at least 43-45. Now, I will test out "Murphy" on the LAST TWO unexplored squares if I get a Trapdoor or another Spin / Flash... if I am lucky, none of those will happen, so then I have to hope for the "Map" that drops. Here goes (note: I will post after the results.);

Tier I Map (5 mods) on completing the catacomb:

Mythical Patched Mountain Map,
+2 Warm Lights,
+1 Treasure Chests,
+1 Rooms,
+15% Monster Difficulty,
Quantity: 2

Now that sucks major, it was the same with my other character that was level 69 taking on Ambush where the 1st one killed gave zero(0) drops, the 2nd one killed only dropped a Magical Tier II and the 3rd one dropped 2 items Rare Tier II and Magical Tier IV... fucking sad.

But... Murphy (or Paul) are just petty for solo playing.

Had my fun in LS General, also had fun with playing LS for the night, now off to play 4 slot games before heading off to bed. GL / HF all. :D

EDIT: @ Jesse, yup, Swords have better avg dmg (DPS) vs axes using the same stat value of Strength being a priority. Check it out with the Damage Calculator... I haven't tested Sword vs Daggers yet.

Yup, now Sword prices will go up ... :lol:

I tested it out with the calculator, Strength items using Swords deal more damage and DPS vs axe. Actually an Axe would need an extra 35 strength to deal the same average damage / DPS.

EDIT: test was base Tier X weapon.

If I were to allocate the Str/Dex equally, then Axe would be better?
Considering you mentioned using the same stat, is this pure STR or at least more STR than DEX?

Let me know if my understanding is not correct with the above.

Glad that you enjoyed the night with LS Rex. :lol:

Thanks guys... I had an issue connecting previously (MURPHY FFS... no joke... I was online, went to the store to buy a 1 Litre [liter] of "Ballantine's Finest Blended Scotch Whisky" and get home and ISP is down and I had to call them up and WOOF at them since I am not a Bitch to find out what went wrong... lady luck intervened and here I am... :) ... )

Okay, how can I explain this in a way that would make a person realise(realize) that using a Sword is better than using an Axe... or Longsword vs Battle-Axe?

Now that I went to "bleed the lizard" and think on it more and the tests I did previously to prove my point, I think I need to check out the rest of the rest of the "weapon types" and ratios vs other "weapon types".

Consistent Damage Weapons are: Axe (+ Battle) and Daggers (+ Spear).

There is a difference between the two of them:
Axe (+Battle) = 50/50 Ratio
Dagger (+Spear) & Club (Warhammer) = 10/90 Ratio & 90/10 Ratio
Sword (+Long) & Staff (+Polearm) = 75/25 Ratio & 25/75 Ratio

The Axe (+Battle) is the ONLY weapon that has a 50/50 Ratio out of the five(5) weapons available. And buying an Axe type is expensive like a Dagger because of what characters can use those two(2) weapons through EVERY class including unlocked.

Okay, so let us talk about the first 3 classes. Fighter / Rogue / Samurai & Paladin. They can ALL use a Sword, also, so can a Ninja. Monk = Dagger, Warlock = Staff and Headhunter = AXE.

Here is the funny part ... Axes are expensive, yes they can be used with a Barb / Rogue or Paladin ... BUT when using the Damage calculator, using a Sword deals more average damage / DPS with the same Enhanced Effect / Prof Rank and Higher Strength stat (actually this also makes dex items a bit more obsolete vs strength items).

Okay, I will now use the Damage Calculator for the Feeder Classes AND their BASE stats AND Tier III Base Damage Sword & Axe to get a comparison:

Fighter: Can use Axe & Sword.
... 50 Strength / 40 Dexterity
Barbarian: Can use Axe & Sword.
... 60 Strength / 25 Dexterity
Rogue: Can use Axe & Sword.
... 30 Strength / 60 Dexterity

Remember the following is based on the "Damage Calculator" and Base Tier III Weapons:

Fighter = 50 Strength / 40 Dexterity.
... Axe = 24.50 AVG / DPS
... Sword = 24.50 AVG / DPS (?)

Barbarian = 60 Strength / 25 Dexterity.
... Axe = 24.00 AVG / DPS (?)
... Sword 25.50 AVG / DPS

Rogue = 30 Strength / 60 Dexterity.
... Axe = 24.50 AVG / DPS
... Sword = 23.00 AVG / DPS

Okay, this actually answers two(2) questions that all beginning players want to know.

#1 Which is the Best character class to start with?
#2 What is the Best weapon DPS to use?
... The answer to these questions ARE;
... Barbarian and Swords.

Edit: Babarian AVG / DPS using Swords are better than Axes.

... Sword 25.50 AVG / DPS
