as for christmas, i'd be cool with some tittens.
no idea what the wife got me, but it hasn't stopped me from asking
my other stuff will probably be more predictable. my mom generally sends $, my dad sends baskets of fancy food, flowers, etc. ... consumables. my sister usually sends me something cool. one of my best friends from university always seems to nail it, too. i've always been fascinated by how good/bad some people are in terms of the gifts they get for others.
me ... i'm not sure where i stand on that but at least in the case of my wife, i listen/pay attention all year to see what sorts of things she wants and i usually get her something on that "list" for christmas, assuming she doesn't have it by then or has lost all interest.
last year she was all crazy about getting a treadmill. she's a triathlete, competes @ world championships, so i figure that's a great idea. except in reality she usually runs outside, not inside. so i've used it almost as much as she has if the entire year is considered
but she still speaks of it with high praise, and that's what matters
