That's up to you. If you have a charm that adds like 30 dex, you won't need to stat much at all, because that combined with a Rogue's base dex puts you within range, so you can stat ALL STR the whole climb. Same goes for if you have an armor with dex, or if you have STR gear, you just adjust accordingly.

Rule of thumb for melee: at level 55, with all your gear on, you want 100-120 DEX and you want your STR > DEX. The rest of the math is up to you.

The thing is this... the people that have the good items... do not bother with plate.
BUT... the people that want to get somewhere... need to start at some point... even if it means alot of fg.

whether or not it is a plate it is
1) a 70+ stat item
2) HYBRID
3) heavy Hybrids are gg in arena / catas/ and welling all items esoecially heavys
4) heavy hybrid armoirs that are god are very rare
