I think it depends on if you solo or group up. In a group with a dedicated Healer, it makes more sense to use stat armor to kill faster and let the Healer keep you alive.

I am sure using stat armors is fine until you get higher up while soloing as you can just shrine and things won't kill you in 2 hits anyway. As you get beyond 55 and approach mq it gets harder, especially if you hit a stunner.


As far as q2 about 1 shotting mobs I can most of the time early on as they are weak even with non heavy weps. Works well with weapons witj good consistent dmg (dagger and axe) and not as well with say swords as they can hit high or low.

Mana regen helps on any caster. On melee, even with a backup heal, I prefer life regen myself, but I remember Mana regen being very useful while soloing warlock. This was a real long time ago though so perhaps it's not as widely used but I'd bet solo casters still use it.
