So I've been busting my brain out on a project I've been working on lately with my dad. We are converting an acoustic drumkit into an electrec drumkit by customizing it!
Picked up an old kit for a small buck, the white one here:

Cut-up the motherfucker:

And made custom mesh heads of a well-thought material which turned out to be an amazing idea:

Got an amazing bounce and you can't hear a thing in another room. Next step is to finish all the heads and order the piezo transducers of which we are going to make the triggering mechanism, hook it up to a module which transfers the signals to MIDI and connect that bad-ass to a PC with a drumming software.

Making the heads is a huge pain in the ass though, sowing it with fishing-thread is a bitch and the 12", 13" and 14" took me about an hour+ a piece, to bad I still need to do the 16" and the 22" :S
Here's a snap of making such a head:

The shells themself are sawed, steamed/heated, bended and glued in the factory. The drum heads ( the black top piece in my picture but often white/transparent on normal kits) are the parts being sowed. In the factory they are waxed in between the hoops but I have no such equipment so I cut off a hoop from an old set of heads I had laying around!

I do play in a band (drums, as you might have guessed :p) and also play guitar/ write stuff when I'm in the mood. I just love music :p

I'm Camiel btw, I've been seeing you post around here but never spoke to you before, atleast not that I know.
