this has the be the hardest thing I've ever done in life so far..
I smoked for a long time, about a pack a day at my worst, and it's been almost 4 years since I quit. Was pretty damn difficult, but not impossible.
My advice is get some gum/lollipops/candy and drink lots of water... every time you have a craving, drink water and eat a piece of gum or something to take your mind off it.
That and get some exercise, go for a walk/jog, play some basketball or something active. Even go for a run, you won't want a cigarette after.
