Is Skyrim single player? If so, I guess that rules out getting on xbox live and playing with someone.

Yes, but you can get on xbox live and join a chat and chat with the rest of us cronies that are playing.

You need the xbox headset that hooks to the controller, usually you can get them pretty cheap on eebay and I think they come included with some systems.

You can get a 3-month xbox live membership in the donor forum for ~1k, and a year for ~4-5k

Not sure how much they are if you buy them but wal-mart sells them as do many places.
