Just to answer the question posed in the picture, Dennis, I blame it on the Puritans. Their dumbass ideas still mess with our thinking. Most ppl know of them because of all the witch-hunting/burning they did (Salem Witch Trials is the most well known). And theirs was the moral setting for the new nation that would become the USA.
