Quote (ES_TRAPSALOT @ 2 Dec 2010 16:01)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0H71M-RMc0The original version was my fave song of 1985, and this mix is VERY different......it's also like a punch in the gut, both the images and the song. I love the music, but the video is disturbing. It's supposed to be.
I wanted to post this here to remind us that there are still so many troops - American, British, Canadian, etc. - overseas in combat zones this Christmas season. Let's remember them and thank them for their sacrifices.Don't get me wrong, I'm a flag-waving American with many veterans of foreign wars in the family (many ancestors, both grandfathers, father, stepfather, brother, uncles and cousins) and among my friends - some female, even. Not all of them are still alive. Some died in combat, some didn't. Regardless, I support
THEM 100%. What I don't support is the fact that there has been a war involving American boys/men (and, more recently, women) for every generation since World War ONE. It's insane. Nevertheless, I support our troops because they are doing their job and following orders.
"Support the warriors, not the wars" is a good way to put it.
"We sleep soundly in our beds because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence on those who would do us harm." - Winston Churchill*
FYI, Hardcastle is British, so you'll see not only American soldiers in this video, but also British as well. Footage is from Vietnam and Afghanistan. I don't know if there are any images from Iraq, because I'm not sure if the British are involved in that war.
*This quote is usually attributed to George Orwell, but this isn't documented. We may never know where Churchill got this, but where ever it came from, it certainly applies to the sentiment that I wish to convey.
Happy Holidays, PvM. Let's all enjoy the freedoms we have, and be thankful to those that defend these freedoms.
