And it's a one-time donation of $25 or more to be
screened. This means a couple things.
First off, you can't do one donation of $10 and another later of $15, it has to be $25 or more at once. Second, it has to be a donation - which is different from simply buying forum gold. Finally, you are only screened for access - it is not guaranteed. Njaguar is the only one who knows what this screening involves and he does each one personally. I'm just speculating here, but I imagine that being nice, not spamming, and keeping a low warn bar will definitely help your chances
(or at least not hurt them).
Some people get in on their first try, and for others it takes many. There are people in there with scammer tags and 50%+ warn but I'm pretty sure that those people acquired those after getting access. However, people get their access revoked all the time. There are lots of illegal things one might do in the Real Life Trades section which will merit removal of access on the first offense
