I don't think it was a Wolf Spider. Didn't look like one. Was no hairy either.

The black and white multicolor legs is the dominant feature, can't really match it up to anything.

It's hard to see the actual spider detail from your picture, but by looking at the type of web it constructed, it's a type of orb-weaver. They are pretty common in gardens, fields, forests, and urban areas.
While it does look pretty menacing, they are completely harmless. They're beneficial and will help keep other insects/pests under control. Don't kill them

I think you are right. I read that Wiki page and it said the underside has a black area with two white dots. If you look at my pic of the underside, you can see two white dots on the black area. So looks like you are right. Wiki never said if it was harmless to me though!!!! Should I just trust what Brainwashed said
