Maybe. This sounds like an expense, depending on how it would work. But it has potential. Rick's weekly updates are like an open competition, and for a long time I believe they really raised morale in the LS community. They still do, but the community is smaller now.

LS was once a FG crop, but it isn't that way as much anymore; and few people want to work really hard to earn FG. But if drop rates changed, of course it would get a few more people playing.

We can keep thinking out loud. Maybe we won't find a really effective idea, but if we don't think about attracting more people to LS, that won't be effective either :P

LS (while it's not my only game of choice) it is
A very fun game, to me what makes it fun is the friendship
That it involves. When I started, the most frustrating
Thing to me was not being able to find a group to
Climb with. 1-71 is easy, but facing it alone as a new slasher
Seems like, and can be, a daunting task. I feel that drives a lot
Of new slashers away. A lot of long time LS players
(not all and sorry to say this) are more interested in getting to 71
Than taking that time (which can be long yes) to take that new person
For a climb. But let me tell you, it's that first fdf that drove me to want to
Continue into the game.

Aloha all!

Yeah i dont think the problem on ls are the drop rates, but the usability and thus the worth of items.
In fact, the game is flooded with way too many items due to too high drop rates in the past, but we got too few players for this.
Lots people quit and sold out, but hardly any new players came. And the difficulty of the game went down, down and down.

The market is flooded, or rather peoples mules are flooded with gear, as most dont wish to sell their items at the low prices we now have.
Nowadays, anyone can play this game with a really average setup, there is no need to buy anything expensive when sth. average can do the job.
Its kind of a vicious circle. There is no fg coming out of this game as no one has the fg or willingness to invest something into this game...

One of the biggest problems of course is the ls community. People never played the game for its complexity or the graphics.
Actually, the game was way more simple 3, 4 years ago when it was celebrating its peak times here with 200++ players online at the same time.

Unfortunately, the problems influenced and increased each other. People got frustrated over the game and what happened,
and as a result there was a much more harsh and aggressive tone around here. Which of course didnt help either...
I really miss the general spirit this subforum had back then. There were races and challanges and all that,
but in contrast to today, the tone was much more friendly and there was some kind of respectful rivalry.

Its the truth to say people played thisg ame to make fg e.g. with selling mutes and there was a lot fg being shifted back and forth.
And people played for the challenges e.g. among guilds racing for gps and especially the fun they had with their fellows.
Nowdays, it takes HOURS just to get any group of 5 people together and its just frustrating like this.

I dont know how often i tried to get a cata going. I tried for weeks now, wasting many hours... and still couldnt get a single cata done.
The other thing is i dont want to sit at the comp for 2-4 hours straight from 1-71. I dont have this time and its making a climb rather a hassle.
So i focused on skilling. But i cant skill as there are hardly any skillables coming out of this game and its a shitload of items needed for a rank now.

Back then, one could just start a group or hop on an engaged group whenever, as there were enough players online to join with.
But we lost a lot of players over the last 2 years when they lost their fun with ls due to personal interest, updates they didnt like or whatever.

One big problem these days, apart from the economy and activity, is the game itself, imo...
There are just no real challenges. There are some objectives, ok. But which group is really doing them?
90% of all catas are black only so they get to mq asap in 2h something...
Its monotonous, its boring and it is no real challenge.

Its a small step for active people to help forming groups, have fun like this and make the best of what we have right now.
But also, doing this myself, i have to say its really frustrating and exhausting and i dont feel like doing this again and again.

The only way out of this i see is not within our own hands...
The only way i see is to make the game itself more popular again with really GROUNDBREAKING updates people enjoy.

Boosting solo was a first step. The profs, the drop rates, the exp and all that stuff was really needed to be changed again towards a solo player.
Arena was THE way people loved to play this game. Why? Because they were independent to play at THEIR pace, when they wanted, how long they wanted.
It needed investments to be able to kill mobs alone. And they were rewarded for their playing with drops, good experience, proficiency or the mob chain counter.
It was taken to make this game more multiplayer based, which is nice in general as we had the community size for it..

But right now, we dont have the players to make this multiplayer focus possible. And people loose their fun waiting for full groups...
So imo, we need more changes again to make solo really enjoyable as it used to be and multiplayer an equal option to it.
If you get 5 people together, great. If not, no problem as you can just play your way solo as well.

We had some small steps a couple weeks ago, it were nice updates, but still... it was nothing really groundbreaking but just minor adjustments.
I think we are at a point were there is nothing to loose. It doesnt matter really if 10 ppl play the game at the same time or no one...
We need something that really changes ls and makes it worth it to pay a lot fg for some items again and to enjoy the game again.

There were several suggestions to that already, i also like the idea of climbing past level 71. We just need a lot more challenges, and those being rewarded, too.
But we can make more and more suggestions, this wont really help as there is just 1 person who can realize that and i really hope that happens soon!!!
