Way I see it is we are still following the no warn/6 month rule. And if they don't get on vent during their trial, they will be kicked anyways.
true.

We do not just exept anyone, we expet anyone who fits the guildlines in the charter. Our standards stay in place. Rather than making them get on vent before joining we are exepting them and giving them time to get on. We can encourage them to get on vent and teach them the ways of ladder slasher. AT any point, if a member witnesses them break our code of conduct, they are gone on the spot. In the first PM they are sent this should be explained to them.
When i joined Empire I had done 1 MQ . Dave (animage) and many other knowledgable people taught me to play the game and helped me with gear. We can do the same for other people.
We may be skipping over some really good people that just need some guidance. If they fit the guildlines, lets give them a chance...
What's different about how you joined and the new policy is that I'm sure you either knew someone beforehand or took the time to meet people (like I did while I was donating gps). That's important to me because I like to (or have someone else, i.e. you guys) know who I'm associating with before associating with them. It also shows a hell of a lot more interest and initiative than just hitting the button, two things that I'm sure we'll all agree make a good member.
Regarding "giving them a chance," I'm of the opinion that people make their own chances.
If that's what we have to give up to get new members, then I guess that's what we have to give up. It's really not a terrible policy the way it's been explained here, but don't expect me to be happy about it or to accept it easily.
Gotta run, idk when I'll be back.
