How does this Master quest work?

once you reach lvl 71 ( that's the hard part )
you can choose to attempt the MQ
It is a game of luck your stuff , stats , level, does not matter

if you fail, you get 1 guild point and you get back to lvl 1 with all your stuff
if you pass, you get 2 GP , you get back to lvl 1 with all your stuff
but if you pass, you unlock a new secret character = the samurai

ic. What happen to my gear i have bought for the higher lvls, will i have to rebuy all low level gear again when i start from lvl 1? or will i be able to use the gear i had before i started the MQ?

if you kept your gear ( on mule for ex ) so as long as you haven't sold it, you'll be able to start over with it
you also keep kills/deaths and profiencies when you mq
