It only cost me 500 fg. Seemed worthwhile, just because it was there and the option was available to buy it.

Apparently it will only hold 25 entries at once, and entries can be deleted, but not edited. So I dunno how good of a "chat" it is compared to guild chat IRC, but it does seem like a handy place to store trade links, links to guide compilations not included in the sticky, etc.
