Problem officer?

i have a little question about the english language (for those who dont know, im german)

do i say to address someone with name or by name???

e.g. they address each other with pet names - or - they address each other by pet names

most people in here are (US Canada England)

Engrish is my native language, although I am no grammatics pro.


We say "you address them by name" and not "you address them with name"

i found another forum and they said "to address s.o. by his nickname" so i think by pet name is correct too
