2 things you can easily
start menu -

RUN-

type CMD-

this opens command prompt

on command prompt-

chkdsk /r

hit ENTER
let this run and follow instructions. it should repair your system files then when its done, close it and reboot
second thing, while booting up, press the function key that brings you to bios settings. then press the f5 key to restore default values then press f10 to save and exit.
Heh, first advice: my computer keeps restarting, it doesn't get to the point where the desktop is visible.
Second advice: I tried it many times before you actually speaking of it and it did not work.

So, what I'm thinking of doing is trying to find/get the required CD/Floppy that the computer is asking me of.
"Windows Automated System Recovery Disk" is one of them.
I also attempted to fix it by booting from the CDROM drive and having my 'bootleg' Win XP Pro CD in it... but a message keeps coming saying: " OH LAWD! I think this time it's working! Before when I tried it, it kept saying the CD was corrupted... BRB
