'Tis all in the gear.
Firstly, collect +extra item slot gear so you can store lots of sexy quality items.
Next, build up a selection of gear for the different tiers of leveling - eg. 0-20, 21-45, 45-61. This means you will never slow down as you have good leveling equipment ready at each 'tier'. As you accumulate gear (and fg) you will be able to upgrade your existing gear. I can only play on the weekends but I was one of the first to hit 61 (and lucky enough to pass) - as over the previous LS season I had collected +ee swords for level 5,15,20,25,30,35 & 40 - apart from the level 40 sword, none of these are 'godly'.
Of course, the most effective items are low level req gear that can be used up to level 61 because they free up your inventory slots. For example, I used to have a 7 regen armor (level 0), 9 regen armor (level 25) and a 11 regen armor (level 40). I bought a 10 regen armor (level req 5) off Bifido (or Blind Chief?) and sold/donated all 3 of the old armors. Same thing with leveling armor (two for 0-25, 25-61) and leveling charm (0-35, 35-61). This means the rest of my slots can be used to collect transmuting items or items to sell
