So for those of you that were on vent last night, you probably recall me complaining about my eye during the climb. In particular my right eye. Shortly into the climb, it started really bothering me. Not the sort of bother like something is irritating it, or an eye lash, or watering up... it was more a feeling of pressure, swelling, and little pain. I figured it was just the brightness of my monitors beaming into my eyeballs, and my one eye was not taking it to well for some reason. So halfway through the climb last night I turned my brightness and contrast on my screen to 0 and turned the lights off in my room to try and keep the intensity off my eye. It really didn't help much. I did the whole climb like that, and for awhile I even hung my t-shirt over my head covering my right eye to completely shield it from the light. Still didn't do much. It got to the point where by the end of the climb not only was my eye really bugging out on me, and starting to worry me, but I started getting adverse side effects like the inability to quickly focus on objects and a strong headache. After getting off last night I took my contacts out maybe thinking that would help, but like I said it wasn't a irritation of the eye, so taking my contacts out didn't help. It was at this point, getting ready for bed that I started feeling nauseous as well and developing a stomach ache in addition to my inability to focus and headache. I turned everything off and figured all I needed was some sleep and when I wake up in the morning everything will be okay. I woke up this morning and immediately noticed my eye was still throbbing on me and really bothering me. Oh great I thought, this is not good. Something is wrong. I have to be on sight today doing training sessions with the manufacturers reps on my jobs and need to video tape these sessions and am going blind in one eye. I had no choice but to start taking medication. I was running late because of this and had to put my contacts in so I didn't get to make my oatmeal breakfast and instead ran over to McDonalds to get breakfast then took a few pills of Ibuprofen. Figured it would help this swelling I am having in my eye. Well, about 45 minutes to an hour after taking the medicine I started feeling a lot better and eventually the pain and feeling all went away.
So something weird was up. That has never happened to me before. The Ibuprofen really did wonders, and it is amazing what a couple of NSAID's will do for you. I want to rest my eyes tonight, so there is a possibility I won't be slashing tonight. I just want to rest my eye as it really had me worried there for a while. That climb last night was hell to me, it was terrible because of my eye and I don't want to have that come up again. So, thought I'd give you guys an update and let you know I may not be climbing tonight. I'll be on and off JSP as usual, but resting.
I wear contacts and had that exact thing happen to me... twice. I scratched my cornea and it did something.. don't remem. I do remem that my eye was so sensitive to light that I couldn't even look at a monitor.
I went to the eye doc and i was on steroid drops every four hours for a week and something else.
you need to go to the eye doc immediately... as in tomorrow. I have a perm scar on my corenea and have since bought glasses. As i now wear glasses as soon as i get home, i've never had a prob. I also don't sleep in my contacts for a month at a time either.
