At worst, one of us will RIP with 3-4 pieces of gear that are easily replaceable.  No worries.

That's how I am too.
We are working on getting some gear to get guild games going but it's mighty expensive.  If we can get another set of weapons and ee plates, we'd be able to run some fairly decent games with a healer.  Only time (and fg) will tell.
