1 benefit to HC... when a real man RIP's, he gets to make a cry thread so that other players can make 'sorry for your lost' +1 posts when they're really thinking 'haha another one bites the dust' and then other HC players can purposely commit suicide on their characters in protest of lost godly items. But make sure you transfer any good items off the character first before you suicide, else it's just throwing more fg down the drain. Then make sure you make a post so everyone knows you did this, so more people can make more 'sorry for your lost' +1 posts when they're really thinking 'haha another one bites the dust'.
