as long as you play active ( many clicks ) this should be no problem, e.g. casters running out of mana will certainly have low damage, too.
i have just played a few catas this way, but it helps a bit to detect potential leechers and item grabbers a bit i guess.

Ive done a few actas since update and ive put out more damage than all the melee'rs by far

heres my best so far, post yours!
(ignore the 6 minimum damage, it was the end of a 9 wave thinger, and i ran outta mana so hit it twice with sword)

i guess you didnt get me proper, i try to explain what i mean

i play caster myself as well and in the short running catas i did the highest damage by far, was like 40-60k and the others had 20k and less.

BUT when having a good party and rushing through a labyrinth for a longer time you will most likely run out of mana
and ( as you usually heal others ) the fighters are still strong they will have higher numbers once you can just attack with your little melee weapon^^

but as i said, max damage doesnt need to say you are active or not, the clicks are quite important in my opinion.

i would even go further and show which person takes the drops to identify the grabbers. of course this is already possible now when checking the profiles,
but it could be done faster imho so you kick the grabbers once you set a drop order for instance and it gets violated
