If I had to sum up the basics of LS...

1. Make a melee class, such as Barb or Fighter. Stat the first 10 points to VITALITY (new players should) and then on levelups split the rest between STR and DEX, keeping them close as you climb.
2. Get as high ENHANCED EFFECT on your weapon as you can find. For armor/charm, +STR and +DEX is nice, +LIFE also nice. ENHANCED EFFECT is also good on armor.
3. Join catacombs, explore town, learn what things do, learn stats, etc.
4. Use the LS PORTAL. It has everything you need to know on the left side under HELP AND GUIDES. LINK

that sums it up without beating everything to death. learn as you go, and if you follow these basic things you will be fine. you dont NEED those stats, but those should be goals to work for and try to get.

i think you could get that cheaper, but im not sure. i dont know prices of the lower stuff real well, to me thats worth like 5fg

Depends on the EE of your lvl40...

Try to get the best EE for the Level of your lowest first.
This way you might get a lower level weapon that can get you through 10 levels instead of 5 levels.

I would only buy that sword for like 1fg
