hey ive been trying out LS and im lvl 16 Mage
ive spent around 40fg on my char and i have no idea what im doing lol
i went all int. but i dont know what kinda gear i should use
max life max mana or what?
and i think i droped an axe worth 800fg in the shrine.

Hm, a lot of Mages choose to put 5 of the beginning stat points in Vitality for some extra life and that extra regen bonus.
For gear, it's always Enhanced Effect for Charms, and Intelligence on Weapon and Robe. Other stats, such as Max Life, Mind Numb, Mana Syphon, etc. are bonuses. Some prefer MPK for earlier levels, though you probably shouldn't worry about that for now.
As for what to keep to sell - well, you'll know by heart eventually, but generally: higher tier items with a high number of modifiers are good to sell as transmuting items. High EE on anything but armor (except perhaps Plate mails) are generally good. Also high stat items like 30+ STR, DEX or INT. When in doubt, pick it up and ask in the Price Check topic.
