just got paid today and my whole god damn check is gone. fml.
bought a new alternator, new batery ($200) and a new Ipod 32 gb touch ($125) i got $50 bucks left and they new cod maps come out in 6 days($15), and i need gas ($50)roflcopter

e: wait, I c wut u did now. Alternator for what? I'm guessing ~140-150 for alternator, 40-50 battery? I am also a mechanic so I know this stuff.

Well then.. Day before yesterday I go in for a oil change.. My breaks are squeaking a bit so I tell them to check it...
Bam all the sudden I need new break pads.
2 hoses are apparently leaking my anti freeze (Stuff for AC i think)
(He claims I need a new thermostat)
I have like a belt that is about to break (He says go ahead and replace all 3 because one that is cracked is on bottom)
Rotor for my break pads had to be replaced. ( So he claims)
I end up spending like ~250$ for Break pads/Rotors/Oil change..
Gotta go back for 3 new belts ~110$
And thermostat / hoses ~250$

That is including his labor....
Am I getting fucked here?

most likely thats how most shops work these days and obviously if you have to go to a shop to find out what is wrong they know you dont know whats wrong are gonan try and fuck you .

heard to many bad experiences from alot shops in my town.

What you need is a mechanic for a friend, that way you can ask them to look at it and give you a 2nd opinion.

The brake price seems accurate, rotors can be 40-60 a pop depending on the vehicle, pads are usually 15-25 for cheaper set (per wheel) more expensive ones can run 30-40 a set. oil change usually runs ~20-30 for the oil/filter. these prices are all before any labor is involved.

belts can be expensive if it is a serpentine, they run anywhere from 40-60, and smaller/thinner v-belts are usually 10-20 a piece. again, labor adds more.

thermostat/hoses sounds expensive as fuck, new thermostat is ~12 bucks, the hoses are 15-25 a piece, but it looks like the labor is whats killing you.


one question. is it leaking anti-freeze on the ground or into the motor oil? if so, then you have a problem. if not, then i would go get a 2nd opinion from another shop or have him explain what that problem is better so you can understand it.




funny thing is, not only could I rebuild your car, I can also build you a PC. go figure.

I think it is leaking onto the ground.
I see it sitting dried up on top of some hoses. Not sure where it is leaking to. Probably the ground.

Yeah I am defiantly going to be getting a second opinion.

As far as the PC goes. I can build you one to
