I can give you a quick rundown on mage.

On your gear (weapon/armor) you want useful mage mods such as INT or Heal Mastery. +Mana also helps a bunch.

For your MAIN SLOT charm, people suggest using either +INT or Heal Mastery to further boost your heal.

For your ACC SLOT charm, use an ENHANCED EFFECT heal, since EE is the only mod that works in the 2nd (ACCESSORY) slot.



You might want to put a few points into VITALITY early on to gain more HP, then just stat the rest to INTELLIGENCE, and keep upgrading gear when you can.

At first you may want to REROLL a few times back to level 1 if it gets too hard, there is no shame in doing this, we all have at one point!



Also, if it gets too frustrating, just try a Fighter or Barbarian. Sometimes MELEE is easier at first than HEALER/CASTER.
If you go melee, you will focus on DEX/STR stats, and Enhanced Effect on weapons to increase damage and also possibly armor for tanking.
