format > reinstall OS. stay away from Vista, XP Pro SP 2 or 3 and Win7 are safe choices for the micro$oft bunch, OS X / Linux is also nice for the more experienced user.



It sounds like you downloaded a virus to me, and it corrupted your drivers, or the installation went screwy and corrupted something.


You can try this:

Start RUN type "msconfig" hit enter

on the "STARTUP" tab, uncheck everything, hit APPLY, restart your PC.

could also repair OS.
