u get proficiency points just by using that category u wish to upgrade

for example, if u use a sword, u get sword proficiency by hitting monsters with it
also, u get more exp for it in the arena, and less from catacombs

Proficiency is simply a bonus for using an item.

For example:: You use swords as your weapon on a fighter - the more you attack with sword - the proficiency for sword goes up.

Every time you gain 1 level in proficiency for that class of weapon - you get +1 Enhanced Effect.

So if you have +5 sword prof or whatever like me.

Your 105 ee sword will act as a 110 ee sword


It's that simple - sorta why people stick to only one type ie: light charm SET - or sword SET , not a mixture.
