Hi guys, hope everyone had a great weekend.

I've got a equipment related question. I'm about to change my armor on my lvl 36 STR barbarian but I'd like to more input before I decide on which item to buy/look for. Currently I'm wearing this:

Arcane Steel Plate Mail
Lvl Req: 10
Physical Defense 23 to 69
Magical Defense 0 to 7
+40% EE
+140 Max Life
+29 Max Mana
+1 to 2 Mana per attack
+1% Armor Pierce
+3% Mana Syphon

First of all should I be looking for chain or scale mail instead of plate mail (because of the higher Magical defense)? And secondly which stats would be most useful to me? STR? EE? Max Life?

Thanks for checking!

Very interesting question!

Let's see... barbs start out with very high innate life, so Max Life is not an important stat to look for, it's just a bonus.
Ideal would be a STR + EE armor, but those are expensive, so the next best thing is to look for a solid high EE armor so you can tank well.

Now for chain or scale for more MDEF is very interesting. I don't have a definite answer on that, but looking at the numbers makes me want to test it out.

Thanks for the input! I'll wait and see if any other people have extra info about the type of armor that would suit me best. Camiel (M0nk3yL0rd0) suggested to look for scale, leather or chain armors. I'm wondering what our other guildies think about this before I pay the MP a visit though.

since magic defence is multiplied by int, medium armours aren't really that effective on barbarians since they have such low int

At levels 1 to level 20 are not an issue... that plate will do the job... even with the new update.

You have to decide your build on your weapon of interest... also take into account the unlockable characters after feeder and before Monk / Ninja

Once you have looked into this more evenly, you will decide what is best for you... personally... barb starts with high vita/strength, so you need to look into the weapon that best suites that build and also take into consideration of the next 2 unlockables available... so they both use sword... so to me, this means to ME... that swords are your niche weapon for that build... as for armors... you build on either being a Tank or damager in group.

I started with Barb... love the barb but with update and other changes... i found rogue to be more versatile than any other... but look towards being a hybrid with either target in mind...
1. Healer if need be
2. Damager if need be
3. Caster if it allows for 1 more.

You need to check all avenues that are cheap, versatile and also effective no matter what level in a group or solo'ing.

Hope this helps... and I know that it is all a bit of "Up In The Air" at the moment.

Aha, now that's important info. This pretty much rules out the other types of armor with my INT of 5, so I guess I'll stick with plate then.

Aight thanks for the info. I already decided to use swords as weapons. I currently only have a lvl 15 sword with +70% EE which I'm still using now and a lvl 10 sword with +60%EE. I'll be on the lookout for a higher lvl sword but they don't come cheap. I guess for now I'll check the MP for a nice plate mail with a good EE value. It'll have to do for now.

Check MP everyday... there are always cheap items up for grabs...

On another note... I have a Level 35 Plate on MP @ 19.98fg ... it has 60% ee... this will suffice for you at that level and maybe upto level 45 until you get better.

Goodluck in your endeavours.
