Some food for thought from your Guild Leader, The Duke:

I want to first thank each and every active member of Ancient Blood for their contributions to your guild. If you have been a member for a while, you can see our numbers are growing. If you have recently joined AB, we have added nearly seven new slashers in the last couple of weeks.

It is my desire to provide catacomb leveling where each member that desires to particpate can do so. One issue we have is that so many members have such a difference in levels, we can not get a full group at any one time.
I have reached out to our friends from other guilds and tried to build bridges that will improve our chances of getting in runs with our guildmates and freinds. Other members, such as Chip and justin, have built many relationships among the LS community. This allows us to help and be helped.

In the last few nights, I have left a group, consisting primarily of guild mates to allow other guild mates to level. I have always tried to put others first and be a good ambassador to the game and LS community. I have found out that shortly after I leave, the group disbans for whatever reason. No, I am not so special that others just can't make it witrhout me, lol.

None of us can be in more than one place at once. I jumped around into at least 5 different games last night, trying to help others.

Here is my solution, perhaps. Please leave feedback here for others to view and provide their comments.

1. Set a time for guild only runs each night. 9:30pm - 11:00pm est seems to be a time when most members are available. In two hours we should be able to grind out fifteen or twenty levels. Is this the time to level our primary toons? I am open to suggestion here.

2. Several of us have multi level toons that are available. All members need to work on this.

3. If we are in a guild member made game and another member has the appropriate level toon, he or she should be allowed to join. Yes, we will have to remake and tell whomeever is there that is a non guildy that we have a guildmate that is available to play. I understand this is awkward; however, everyone should understand that the guild members come first.
We all have good friends that we would hate to ask to leave the group. I ask this question, what is one reason to join a guild? One answer is to have friends with which to level.
I truly believew all good mannered players will understand this.

4. If we are ina group and a spot is open, fill it with an allied guild member first, if at all possible.

As guild leader, I am trying to help as many new members as possible get their toons leveled. Yes, it is keeping me from MQ'ing my Ninja but so what. I can take one or two or three for the team. Yet, it is causing other, long time members to get left out in the cold. Members that consistantly put guild points on the board.

It is relatively easy to get levels 1-45 or so. It is tough getting 45-71.

I am open to suggestion. We need to get this resolved today/tonight. I dont want anyone to get disgruntled and think of leaving AB.

These are good and dandy idias but i have come up with reasons they could be bad aswell, for starters I have many toons very spred out in lvls but i like to slash during the day and mostly work on my main toons which is bad If we are going to set times for guild runs becaus i dont know what lvl I will end up. On that note Duke(sorry to dime you out) always ends up leaveing atleast two hours befor myself and chip retire for the evening.

Further more the guildies come first is a good rule but that might be hard because if we start kicking alot of ppl that might end up burning some of thoses bridges.

I think ppl just need to post here more what lvls they have and what they intend on doing for the night, morning what have you. LIKE CHIP DOSE!(I am bad about not doing this myself)

I hear ya to an extent....I play alot of chars too (prob climbing with 3-4 chars at a time and like you do play alot during the day), but i can and would put aside 1 char just to climb with AB guildies....As for duke heading out early, thats not gonna hurt relationships with other ppl hes only making guild climb time from 930-11 pm (eastern)....To most late night ppl 1 1/2 hours isnt much, you can get back to the other ppl after.....Im an old, OLD man and get off usually around 11 myslef and would actually like to play with guild mates who are working towards a common goal....And we all know while playing with other players, if their guildmates do come on they leave a cata or ask for room to be made for one (or they leave)....The same mentality is needed with us.

Ok. Good input thus far.

First, the reason I cut out, as many of you know, is I live in the eastern time zone. I take a child to school and try to be at work as near 8 o'clock as I can. I have stayed up pretty late the past few nights playing. I can't do this through the week.

If we all agreed to play at a certain time each night, real life issues permitting, we would leave the toon parked where we stopped the previous night. I don't have the luxury of playing through the weekdays. I agree with Justin that he may not know where he will end up. If he stops at 56 and 4 of us are at 30, it wont work. To have a particular toon to play at a specific time each night, would work. If the slashers can get on a schedule of sorts, we should all have at least one toon that will permit us to game together. Perhaps it shouldnt be our highest character class.

Another school of thought is "if you dont post your toon and intentions, sorry about your luck. Us organized players are doing this or that". I will say this with no disrespect intended or pointed towards anyone: there are members that are making guild points, there are members that have potential to make guild points, there are some ls randoms that are just passing time.

My focus is to accomadate those members that are producing guild points first, those that have a desire to earn points, second.

Regarding any bridge burning: I do not believe there is a guild member in all of jsp land that would not make room for their own guild mate. It is a common practice and happens daily.
It gets touchy when you have to decide which friend stays and which friend goes to make room for a guildy.

My opinion is first friends in stay as long as there is not a mate that has the ability to join our game. I would even suggest making a statement at the beginning of a cat run that says "if we have a guild member that wants to join, the last non guild member that joins this group will need to leave to make room" If people know the intent of the group, there should be no hard feelings.

Bottom line is this, we are here to enjoy this game and each others company. This is not a matter of life or death. This will not become a second job for me or my guild mates. Let's continue to share ideas and make our guild a well oiled, smooth running machine.

My name is BigDuke6 and i approve this message

Was reading through what the bossman wrote, and I agree that it is for the greater good of the guild to be somewhat organized.

Just wanted to pop my two cents in here, for what it's worth. One thing I find REAL handy, is the ability to have people on some sort of instant messaging program, whether it is MSN/AIM/JSP. This helps greatly, because it allows for more instant (gee, a hurr) communication between guildies and helps get the ball rolling that much quicker.

I know this wont be able to happen for everyone, but I have quite a few slashers in my bunch on my AIM list and it has helped get things going.
(you guys can also msg me on AIM, it's the same as my JSP)

Also, if you lack a man, feel free to pop in our GC any time. It works better if you know ahead of time, to allow extra time for people to see it.

Only downside with our bunch is we dont have a lot of people slashing religiously right now, some are afk/school/d2/etc. Hopefully that will change. ^_^

Best of luck to you guys, and keep on crankin' out those GP!

And now a word from Chip via email to Duke:

Hi Steve,

Sometimes I don’t envy your job J as guild leader. My initial reaction is that the guild has to come first. I am as guilty as anyone of wanting to keep a great Warlock in the game to level quickly and get to the MQ but I am going to have to put the AB team 1st. I knew we were going to have some growing pains but I always try to look at the positives and we have come a long way in a short time period. Just think a week or so ago we didn’t even have scheduled runs. Now we have runs every night starting at 6:30pm PST and are running out of room for all the people that want in. I think the order or priority should be Guild, friends, needs (like warlock, healer or killer) and finally just a filler.

We need to encourage more members to list their available chars and also encourage 2 groups going if at all possible. For example, it would be cool to have a lvl 20 group going and a level 40+ group going every night. That way members that MQ could just join the low lvl group the next night and vice versa.

I agree with you that this issue has to be addressed and I will make sure I am part of the solution and not part of the problem. My only concern is that I have made a quite a few friends outside the guild and I will have to learn to say no to them on occasion and put the guild 1st.

One option I just thought of is the Guild only option when making cata. If we can just get 5 people at the same level we have our problem fixed. I am like you and will give up my spot if needed as I have been successful in finding a group with randoms…everyone needs a Chip in their group! I also have 2 other chars that I can play and I am doing my best to keep them staggered.

Maybe an idea is to encourage members to post before they go to bed what lvls they have and when they will be on the next evening. I keep thinking of some kind of sign-up sheet where we can post something like this:

Chipper17 Ninja lvl 50 starting run at 6:30pm please let me know whose is joining.

Lambofgod – Justin is in

Joker is in

Etc…

Maybe tonight we should try the Guild only option and see if we can get a full group of guild members. I know Justin, Duke, Joker, Chip are all pretty close to the same lvls. Our new mage is also pretty close or maybe we can get Bob to join us and teach us how to slash. Just an idea.

Also for the charter – you might want to put something in about putting guild members first and making the guild a priority in LS games.

Our guild is getting to the level where people are actively seeking our games. With any new endeavor we are going to have challenges and adversity but together we can overcome this. I for one am proud of how far we have come in the LS game and look forward to our quest for page 2!

I really don’t want to have to retype any of this when I get home so if you don’t mind editing and posting some of the highlights for me I would appreciate it. Talk to you soon.

On a side note – one of my concerns is our new members and feeling left out. I enjoy leveling with you and Justin and am worried that we will keep leveling as a group and will never get to include some of our new members. Since you and I and Justin seem to play the most at night maybe we could try more to level with the newer guys. Like I said, I have no problem giving up my spot for someone else and would be willing to take one for the team and go play a different toon. Just let me know in the game if you need my help and want me to join a lower group and you don’t always have to be the one giving up your spot. I have been lucky enough to have made enough friends outside the guild to fit in somewhere.

I really do think we are making huge strides on LS and it is kind of nice to have problems like these as to me it means we are going in the right direction. I think the future is very bright for AB and am excited about the direction we are headed. Anyone feel a warlock coming on?
