Every 5 levels you gain using swords stat 4 str 1 dex, that's how I read that.

wouldn;t it be more like 3 levels str 1 lvl dex :p if you value each stat as 25%

When I first saw this, I was like WTF, what in the world now.. Then I remembered, this is part of an update transitioning that I made towards the beginning of this update, and had forgotten. Will be updating the announcement, and posting about it shortly.

A quick summary is that each weapon now has a Strength/Dexterity ratio that it benefits from. Ie, pumping 100% into Strength is no longer the best option (unless you're using strength heavy weapons). Will update the portal with the details in a bit.

edit: Okay, I updated the portal.

Here's how it works:
Swords are Str/Dex ratio of 75/25, that means the bonus effect is 75% of your strength PLUS 25% of your dexterity.
Daggers are Str/Dex ratio of 10/90, that means the bonus effect is 10% of your strength PLUS 90% of your dexterity.

Etc.

So, nothing is nerfed, you just have to adjust your build stat placement. In fact, this BOOSTS dagger wearing classes, since they have naturally higher dex, for instance.

I'm thinking more on the side that high dex is not needed anymore. Screw crits, adding str gives you more raw damage, better average, etc. Sucks because I have dex armor, luckily I switched to STR charms a while back so I am not totally boned.

This is all theorycrafting of course.

I'm so lost on this whole str/dex thing... so weapon choice affects stat placement now? Can anyone acutely summarize this, or link me to where I can read about it?

Say you use a sword. You are going to want 75% of your stat points into STR, and 25% of them into DEX, or close to that, to maximize damage. You don't want to blindly stat all DEX because DEX only accounts for 25% of your damage, the other 75% coming from STR. (so having high dex and no str will cause your damage to be shit)

Someone correct me if I am wrong but I think this is how it should work.

e: Also, should change the name of the game to World of Slasher. Would be more fitting. (or Laddercraft)

Oh okay. So basically that just means that you'll have to rework your stats for different melee classes according to what weapon you use.

Well I must admit, I like it more so far than I thought I would. One question though: so what does proficiencies have to do with casting in catas now? Just less cooldown time or what?

No, cooldown time is the same for everyone. Proficiency ONLY adds to EE now, as it always should have from the get-go just like melee weapons do.

On mobs 2 and up you can CTRL+Click with your charm to spam aoe, at a reduced cast rate, which is the same for everyone regardless of level/prof/gear. More mobs = slower rate, so a full screen you will cast slowly.
