I'm going to say the best thing to try and do, is plan to pass your mq's and buy gear according to that.

a rogue with daggers has you covered for sam. then buy an axe set for pally and headhunter. warlock and alchemist look like they would make good healers.

A rogue with a staff is cheap to build, but if you pass you just have to buy daggers/swords for the sam.

No, the best thing to do is buy one set and get couple attempts in with the same class. After you save up some fg you can then work towards the next class. Too many people have quit because they bought an axe set then realize they cant use it for sammy. Have a good foundation then you can work from there.

Edit: In my case I bought an axe set and MQed around 10 times before going on to sammy. During those climbs I recieved fg/mq and found stuff to sell/use. Thats the easiest way to slash if you are low budget.

Start with daggers, don't buy the axes till pally.

How does a staff help any more than an axe when you to sam.*

Staffs could be extremely cheap
but I would definately stick with daggers, they can be cheap and can serve you better in the long run

Have you seen the prices of daggers? As a person slashing on lowbudget it would be impossible to buy decent gear~
I never said staff was good? o.o But it is hella useful on monk :)

I recently traded my staffs for daggers, and bought an axe set.

All i have left to do is turn all of my mage gear into warlock usable items, but the daggers/axes honestly weren't all that expensive.
