So I'm thinking about dedicating my life to the study and engineering of time travel.

Although travel into the past is theoretically possible now with the recent advancements in scientific knowledge and discoveries, most my focus will be on time travel into the future since it is much easier and in fact has already been done and proven here on earth through the Geneva particle accelerator and the works of CERN.

Just because you can make a particle travel in time does not mean alot, electrons are humans are very different. But i wish you the best of luck, lmk who wins the world series in 2013 so i can bet my life savings.

Well it does mean a lot! It means the "theory" has been proven to be true. Even at the most basic form as taking a particle and throwing it around a circle at speeds approaching the speed of light, and witness it's age process slow down. The theory has been proven true! I mean technically we are just made up of multiple (many times multiple) particles.

Yes, human time travel is a whole 'nother story because of the compression acted on the body to reach such speeds needed. We'd literally flatten out. Not to mention the extreme engineering and money needed to actually build something that would work.... BUT... all I needed was the glimmer of hope that it is possible and has been proven to exist. Now... to further explore the possibilities!

The alternative to speed would be gravity. And the only gravity strong enough to slow time is that of and around a black hole. But, we'd almost still need the speed variation of time travel because the nearest black hole, Saggitarius A-Star, is like 26,000 light years from earth I guess theoretically you could create a rift in space to get there (AKA a wormhole) but we don't have that type of means Possibly an alien race/technology?! Oh the wonders of the universe!!!!

give me some of what you are smoking Jim. I hate to be the realist because i am an engineer and love thinking ahead, but the day we try this will prolly be sometime in December of 2012

Well I'm just throwing out theoretical scenerios. How it "could" be possible. I'm just intrigued by the fact time actually has been slowed down enough to be observed, which obviously opens up the whole time travel thing.

It's nice to think about. It is the imagination of scientists and engineers that allow break throughs in science and technology to happen.

How do you think Albert Einstein got here and knew everything he did about physics, the universe, light, and of course time travel?????? He came back in time but we just didn't have the technology to send him back into the future, so he left us with the knowledge we needed to know, without revealing too much about it.
