I hope to be fully back soon, had some more severe hardware problems with the computer today...
Had been in town all morning yesterday to have it fixed by a professional, naturally it was quite expensive!!!
Fortunately i DID go there and didnt wait some more days because the whole thing might have EXPLODED
or burned when the heat had gone even higher. Most likely the high voltage would have destroyed the entire computer.
Im glad i was at home while it happened, usually i leave the computer on while im at university and there is no one looking after it.
I dont want to imagine if it had started to burn and no one saw it!!!!
That power box was indeed broken ( therefore the horrible noise in that mp3 file some pages back )
The main cable inside to the energy box was literally smoked by then and burned because of the heat,
most likely caused by too much dust and too little air flow in the computer itself.
I was lazy and didnt clean it for too long, but one should really do it. Its frightening to see all the dust inside.
I used a vacuum cleaner the other day, but its not efficient enough and one cant come into the real important areas.
They fixed it all and checked the other parts, but nothing else was broken according to them.
Quite a long procedure to remove and exchange the parts one by one just to see its ok...
I also thought it was fine again as it worked ok yesterday afternoon without any problems.
The only problem i had was msn and all my online messengers. The data was gone and i couldnt login at all.
I tried to check for the date and to use the recover function and then removed + installed it again, but it didnt help either.
Noticed the connection itself was slower than usual with a couple of disconnects.
On top if it the whole computer crashed again this morning. Once, twice and then it shut down right during the booting.
Tried it 2-3 times and afterwards it wouldnt start any more at all
I took a picture of the bluescreen and the error messages, fortunately our neighbor gave us a hand.
At least we could localize the other problem after some hours of trying. Its not any of the hardware inside, but outside:
Its more or less a chain reaction of the power supply issue yesterday.
The other part which is now broken is the internet router for the wireless lan that was plugged in right next to it, it also got overheated because of that and broke.
There is some defective contact inside it now and when it gets stressed during the surfing on the web it will make the whole computer shut down till its cooled down.
I didnt bring it to the store yesterday because its just some plug and play device outside and i thought ok it wont be broken anyway.
But i better should have, after we removed it from the computer today it ran again smoothly for 2 hours without any problem...
Difficult story because it took us hours and hours to have it installed properly and have a connection to the web finally, such a sensitive construction.
Now we have to get through all of it again with the new one... I hope it will be compatible with the base station on the office.
I see some more nerve wracking hours in front of me and the costs for the new lan stick, hopefully it runs smooth.
For now we tried something temporary so that i could come online at least...
We put a 30m long wire for internet from the office to my room upstairs right through the stairway, below the doors and through the other rooms.
The connection is fast as never before ofc because its a direct connection and not that wireless stuff with all the walls in between.
But ofc it cant stay like that, im afraid someone will fall over it during the night when its dark
Well this was my weekend, hardly any slashing or relaxing but nothing than stress
Will go to the store tomorrow before university and try to buy a new one to have it set up fast, cross your fingers it will work!!!!
