Hey guys sorry to say this...
After a lot of close Empire friends giving Empire itself shit for taking me in I've decided it really isn't worth it for you guys. I love this guild and I love the people in it -- that won't change. However I don't like guilds/people being judged and receiving a bad reputation because of me.
I have no idea what it is that made these people mad at me but I don't think its fair for you guys to have to deal with it. I'm just going to lay low with some close friends and try to enjoy myself as best as possible and "better my reputation." I'll still be around just as much to talk to you and help you guys.

heh. appreciate the gesture, but frankly, we're big boys (some of us anyway) and i'm pretty sure we can deal with other people thinking whatever the hell they want to.
no idea who said what (and apparently no one wants to tell me, nor do they want to tell me why they're not telling me (not crazy about this)), but you might think that this would be something that would be dealt with at the voting stage. or in some mysterious private channel, or whatever.
