I am not sure how the MF works, Corgan, but it would seem logical that the higher your MF, and the higher your lvl is when you tackle the well boss, the better chance you have of getting a good item. Since the 'white' items have no lvl to begin with, i dont think the lvl of the mob that dropped it has any effect on the result. Most well-hunters save their low-lvl finds for higher lvl boss-hunts.
