Yeah i definetly need help with mages... i dunno what to look for, ive just been pumpin int, and buying + int gear
Like Doug said, nobody likes a mage that can't try to heal, and it can get expensive to try to effectively cast AND heal. You have a few options...
1. Make a pure healer. Pump INT, get HM gear, and decent EE heals (any type will do) Parties will love you for healing, but you won't do much damage and soloing will be rough.
2. Make a pure caster. Pump INT, get INT on gear, other mods like +Crit are handy as well. You will deal a lot of damage, at the sacrifice of healing. Try to carry a heal as well.
3. Go both routes. Smartest decision in my opinion and many others. Still pump INT, try to get gear with a mix of INT and HM, and also +Mana is helpful at low levels.
Some advice: Most people cast in main slot, and heal in acc slot. When encountering big waves of Evils, or a hard objective like No Maze No More or Face the Evil, you can put your heal (acc) in your inventory, then quickly use the control-click to swap it into the main slot. Toss your damage charm in Acc. This will boost your healing power by a good amount, as it will be needed for tough mobs, and when you are finished you can swap back. I have been doing this a LOT ever since it was possible, and I highly recommend it. JUST BE CAREFUL when shrining gear as this can get confusing.
It is HIGHLY advised that you put a few of your starting points into VIT at level 1. This will translate into a good chunk of HP later on. I usually toss 5-10 points into VIT from the start, then the rest to INT for the remainder of the climb. Gives you a few hundred more HP later on, very very useful.
