I am bored as hell with D2 and decided to see what all the fuss was about with LS. I'm upto a lvl 5 and was thinking about investing time in Fishing / Cooking. However, in a help guide I read this:

Proficiency
They work only on the character itself, you can not transfer them to other characters.
If you die, you loose experience. Proficiency levels do NOT get lost if you attempt the master quest,
re-roll the character or change to another character class.
When someone manages to reset the ladder, the proficiencies are reset to 0 again

Let me get this straight, if I were to say get my fishing to say lvl 10 and one of you uber gods beats the last MQ, my character rerolls as a lvl 1 and EVERY friggin stat is cleaned out. Basically, I can keep my equipment, but everything is clean slate--fishing, cooking, glymp included?

Maybe I got spoiled with WOW, but if the answer is yes, I'm not even going to attempt this game...
