I used barbarian as my first char. Ditched it for a mage at level 48 . I just think it is a lot easier to go mage unless you have godly gear for a melee char.

i feel the same way. mage can be built up cheap and go through the higher lvls with no problems. lower leaves tend to be a little harder but thats why i did 1-25 melee, 25-mq caster on a rogue. which is still an exp build. so i would say a mage as base char is a good way to do it faster for less.
