do u need to have rotw for this?

no sir, u can convert from classic to lod since 2001. same method, there is a button named CONVERT and use it.
once ur char is on LOD, then if u want go to ROTW u need use button convert second time, then u convert from lod to rotw.

from classic to lod = 1 time convert button
from classic to rotw = 2 times convert button (becuase you convert to lod first, u cannot convert directly from classic to rotw)
