I propose that, instead of removing the warn limitation entirely, the site change it from 20% to 50%. The reason for this is simple and that is that you have moderators who don't know what the hell they are doing or issues warns when not justified and without warning beforehand. Accordingly, we have users who hit 20% for rather mundane reasons and are forced to leave for a long period of time. This makes the sub-forum less valuable because you take posters who contribute substantially to the site and remove them for an unexplained reason.

If you put it at 50% rather than 20% it is more likely that they will deserve the ban because they clearly violate the rules (which I assume is why they get warned to begin with) frequently.

If the administration for the site finds this disagreeable I suggest they either tell the moderation team to try not to warn someone unless they've committed an infraction and have been warned or perhaps have a moderator who is used to the sub-forum moderate it.

For those of you who don't use the sub-forum please do not vote because all you do is skew the poll, you can get your pointless "+1's" elsewhere.

For those of you who aren't aware of the current situation, several trolls have been searching posts and PMing mods in order to get people warned out of a particular subforum. For example, I was recently suspended for swearing in a post that happened over a year ago.

I've talked to several moderators and I think they are becoming increasingly aware of the situation. I think the limit should be removed completely to be honest. Moderators have better things to do than to read PMs from petty users. If you remove the limit, then you solve the problem. PMing moderators should be reserved for pornography, highly offensive stuff, etc.

Second this entirely. Those kinds of things, such as posting porn, are really detrimental to the site because it is "safe for work" and you have minors here, so obviously that should be prohibited but most of the stuff warns are handed out for don't really damage the site in any way.

Also, I'd like to state again that I would really like clarification from the staff of the site even if you reject the idea.

Voted yes cuz there's no downside.

But really it doesn't solve the problem. If petty users can PM mods to get a person 2 warns, they can do it 5 times.

If you take a look at this thread, one of the mods implied that there may be a statute of limitations on certain offenses (flaming, trolling, etc.)

It doesn't solve it, but it certainly gives people a lot more breathing room which would be a good thing.

What's the point of following the rules if the consequences are just going to be reduced? Pard users rejoice when someone they don't like reaches 20% and can't post any longer. When it happens to someone they like, they start complaining.

Adding leniency into the system will just cause discussions to degrade that much more. Why not just get rid of it and move to general chat?

For one thing there are consequences beyond being restricted from a sub-forum for excessive warn and for another thing I don't rejoice when any poster is kicked out of the forum. As for the second sentence I will call bullshit. Prior to the warn cap you had a number of forum regulars with excessive warn who made the sub-forum worth visiting. Hell, two of my favorite posters each reached 100%.

Like I said in the OP, if you do not use the sub-forum, as you clearly do not, do not post because you have absolutely no frame of reference.
